This blog will be about naps since I just took one. Last year I used to take naps all the time. When I say that I take naps, I’m talking about AT LEAST 2 hours. When I think of taking naps, I think of anytime I shouldn’t be asleep but I am—like during the day. So when I say I slept for 5 hours during the day I still think it’s a nap for me. What do you guys think? Most people say naps are an hour or less. I don’t know how naps even do their job if you sleep for that long! I know I would be miserable if I let myself sleep for an hour knowing I was ridiculously tired like today. That’s why I slept for three hours.
Then again, could it be a bad thing? I always wake up really cranky. I’m cranky right now. I don’t want to do anything and I want to go back to sleep but I have homework to catch up on. But this was the first opportunity of the school year for me to take a nappy-nap! I had to! My crankiness is wearing off and I’m starting to feel a whole lot better.
I wish my body was capable of functioning off of less sleep. I feel like I’m extremely tired and I get 8 hours, but when I try to sleep in my body wants to get up. I don’t know how I did it in high school with only getting four hours of sleep every night. Oh well, I love sleep!
I LOVE NAPS! Are you a Seinfeld fan? There's this one episode where Kramer tests that getting 8 hours of sleep broken up throughout the day is much better than at one time, and it was true! He had a whole bunch of energy while all his friends were tired all the time, so it's something to think about. And I think our bodies adjust to the amount of sleep we get, so if you push 6 hours a couple of days, before long it will seem like plenty of sleep.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've heard that 30 minutes of exercise = 1 hour of sleep. That's something I keep in mind when I feel like I'm not getting enough sleep.
Naps are my shit. I just recently starting taking naps again and I have had a lot more energy and have been more alert.
ReplyDeleteI love napping! Its super refreshing, as soon as you wash your face. Waking up and trying to get to a class right after a nap sucks, I definitely need a minute to completely wake up before I can do anything.
ReplyDeleteNaps are the best, I just hate having to get up after them :(
ReplyDeleteA good nap seriously is aaamazing. I learned recently though that in order to get the maximum benefits out of a nap, you shouldn't sleep for longer than 30 minutes. If you sleep for too long you start to fall into deeper sleep (deep REM sleep takes about 3 hours, but prior to that theres 3 other stages of sleep), and if you wake up in a state of deeper sleep it's hard to wake up, and thats why you feel cranky. If you wake up in the earlier stages of sleep, however, you don't feel so groggy and tired!
